The Monashee Mountains are Calling, and WE are getting ready to go!

As a nature enthusiast and active parent, I couldn't be more excited about our upcoming backpacking trip! Two years ago we were set to go out on this trip but had to be postponed due to wildfires, so now preparing for this adventure has been both thrilling and challenging. This is the same place where my dad used to take our family and I am overjoyed I get to share it with my kid, and one of my dearest friends and her daughter. We are heading into Spectrum Lake and it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. 

​To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, I've carefully curated a list of the best lightweight camping supplies, backpacking-friendly food, and doTERRA, "Ready for Anything"  products that might aid in our journey.

Lightweight Camping Supplies:
When backpacking, as my dad has taught me, every ounce counts, so packing lightweight gear is essential.
Here are some must-haves for our adventure:

• Backpack: Investing in a lightweight, child-friendly backpack with padded straps ensures comfort for kiddo during the hike.
• Tent: A compact and durable two-person tent provides a cozy shelter for both of us without weighing us down, thank you to my eldest son for lending us this. 
• Sleeping bag and pad: Opting for a lightweight sleeping bag and an inflatable sleeping pad ensures a good night's rest for my young explorer and I. ( I like to put everything in drybags to keep it all compact ) 
• Layered Clothing is best and keeps it super light. Spare socks and underwear is it. 
• First aid kit: A compact kit with essential medical supplies, band-aids, and antiseptic wipes provides peace of mind during unexpected mishaps, referral. I've added my doTERRA products to this to help us on our way. 
• Swiss Army Knife: The original from Switzerland! A versatile tool equipped with a knife, scissors, and other functions will come in handy for various tasks on the trail.
• WaterFilter: I purchased a press from MEC, it helps to remove viruses and purifies the stream water. 
• Bear Spray.  yes, there might be bears.
• Headlamps and extra batteries, always.  
• FOOD: I've included some backpack friendly suggestions below. ( MEC purchased )

• Trail mix: A homemade mix of nuts, dried fruits, and chocolate provides a quick energy boost.
• Energy bars/Stingers: Packed with nutrients and designed for on-the-go consumption, energy bars are perfect for keeping hunger at bay. Stingers are the kids favourite. 
• Instant oatmeal: A warm and nourishing breakfast option to start the day on a positive note.

As the departure day approaches, I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation. Backpacking with my kid promises to be a heartwarming and unforgettable adventure.
